We are delighted to open the season with the Amernet String Quartet joined by pianist Matthew Bengtson. The Amernet, performing for the first time in Reading, has garnered recognition as one of today’s exceptional string quartets and is Ensemble-in-Residence at Florida International University in Miami. Wyomissing native Matt Bengtson is critically acclaimed as a “musician’s pianist”, having a unique combination of musical talents ranging from extraordinary pianist to composer, analyst, and scholar of performance practice. He was last heard at the WCR in 2015 with the Daedalus Quartet, and as a soloist for Sundays at Stirling in 2016. Their program features works by Philadelphia-based composers George Walker, Samuel Barber, and Vittorio Giannini.
