Brass Ensemble: “Out of Time”

Executive Director Shari Gleason-Mayrhofer, horn, joins esteemed brass colleagues Jeffrey Wohlbach and Hugh Williamson, trumpet; Daniel Neuenschwander, trombone; and Allen Frank, tuba, to take you on a musical journey through brass chamber music. Listeners will experience a variety of brass ensembles and styles, including lush romantic harmonies, intricate Baroque counterpoint, and lively jazz changes. There is something for everybody on this program that takes you from the Renaissance to the present in the blink of an eye!

Friends of Chamber Music (FOCM) Executive Director Shari Gleason-Mayrhofer is joined by four esteemed brass colleagues to take you on a musical journey through brass chamber music. Listeners will experience a variety of brass ensembles and styles, including lush romantic harmonies, intricate Baroque counterpoint, and lively jazz changes. There is something for everybody on this program that takes you from the Renaissance to the present in the blink of an eye!

Trumpeter Jeffrey Wohlbach holds degrees from The Juilliard School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jeff toured extensively with the world-renowned Glenn Miller Orchestra, was a member of two national Broadway tours, and has performed with orchestras around the globe. Currently Jeffrey teaches at Dickinson College.

Reading native Hugh Williamson, trumpet, earned degrees from Moravian College, SUNY-Binghamton, and Temple University. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra and has performed in orchestras and brass ensembles throughout the Northeast. Hugh currently serves as an instrumental music specialist with the School District of Philadelphia.

Shari Gleason-Mayrhofer, horn, joined FOCM as Executive Director in 2014. She is Instructor of Horn at Kutztown University and Muhlenberg College. Shari plays in a wide variety of orchestral and chamber ensembles and musical theater venues throughout Southeastern and Central Pennsylvania.

Daniel Neuenschwander, trombone, has served as the Director of Bands and Professor of Trombone at Kutztown University since 2008. He is well-versed in wind band, orchestral, and chamber music performance. Dan earned degrees from U. of Wisconsin-Madison, the U. of Akron, and the U. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Allen Frank, tuba, holds a Bachelor’s degree from Moravian College. Allen served as principal tubist and soloist of the Marine Corps Band in Quantico, and following his military service, became a cast member of the national tour of the Broadway musical BLAST!. Allen is currently the Director of Instrumental Music at Liberty High School and Artist Lecturer of Tuba at Moravian University.
